Outer Burial Containers

What Is A Burial Vault?

By definition of the National Concrete Burial Vault Association, a concrete burial vault is a lined, sealed, warranted burial receptacle which preforms all the functions of the concrete grave liner. In addition it is designed and constructed to reduce the risk of the intrusion of exterior elements. In other words, it allows the casket to function properly while protecting it from the elements outside the vault. A burial vault is one of the best ways to protect the casketed remains and achieve a strong, lasting way to honor the deceased.

Who Requires A Burial Vault?

Most cemeteries require families selecting ground burial to use an outer burial container to protect the casket from outside elements which, over time, will  cause the casket to deteriorate.

Burial vaults exceed cemetery requirements for a permanent outside enclosure to house the casket and remains. They are designed, depending on model, with varying degrees of strength to endure the stress caused by the weight of the earth and heavy cemetery equipment passing over the grave. Burial vaults protect the casket from the elements and allow it to function properly.
